CISBM does not operate a commercial membership model of any kind. There are no dues or paid upgrades; category is judged on research experience and academic background, nothing else.
No dues. No paywalls. No commercial model.
Membership exists solely to support genuine scientific collaboration. What we ask in return is not payment, but a demonstrated interest in the research itself, whether that means attending a seminar or co-authoring an analysis.
Because CISBM produces real scientific work (seminars, research meetings, manuscripts, and computational analyses), membership is structured around what a researcher intends to do here, not around institutional rank or the ability to pay for access.
Two directions, one community.
The categories of CISBM are not a hierarchy of status, but a division of function. The Senior Committee shapes and drives the scientific direction of the organization: setting research priorities, facilitating collaborations, and guiding decisions on grants and funding opportunities.
Regular and Affiliated members build toward that work. Through joint events, seminars, and the Research Bootcamp, they train, develop research skills, and extend their scientific collaborations. Each direction depends on the other: the priorities the Senior Committee sets are only as strong as the active, growing community of researchers working to realize them.

Each category is open to any researcher who meets its academic requirements. The distinction is one of involvement and experience, not status.
Regular Member
RM
Purpose
For researchers who want to participate in the scientific life of CISBM without yet contributing directly to its research outputs.
Benefits
- Access to scientific events, seminars, and conferences
- Participation in CISBM activities, including the Research Bootcamp
- Ongoing engagement with the broader research community
Academic Requirements
- A minimum of two years of research experience, or equivalent
Affiliated Member
AM
Purpose
For researchers actively collaborating on scientific work: manuscripts, analyses, proposals, or other outputs produced through CISBM activities.
Benefits
- Direct participation in the scientific outputs of CISBM
- Potential organizational affiliation on publications resulting from CISBM activities
Academic Requirements
- A minimum of three years of research experience, or equivalent
- An undergraduate degree in a medical-sciences-related field is preferred, or equivalent experience extending to biomedical sciences
Senior Committee
SC
Purpose
For established researchers providing scientific oversight and strategic direction, drawing on senior academic and clinical experience.
Benefits
- Direct involvement in setting scientific direction and strategy
- Formal recognition within the leadership structure of CISBM
Academic Requirements
- A doctoral degree, medical or research (e.g. MD or PhD)
- At least five years of research experience
